kariops.com is owned and operated by Kari Doherty, sole proprietor, based in Portland, Oregon. References to “I,” “me,” or “kariops” below mean Kari Doherty doing business as kariops. References to “you” mean the person visiting or using the site.

What you’re agreeing to

By visiting kariops.com, using the AI Readiness Archetype quiz, reading the writing, or sending me a message through the contact form, you’re agreeing to these terms. If you don’t agree with any part of them, please don’t use the site.

What this site is

kariops.com is the marketing site for my fractional AI consulting practice. It exists to: explain what I do, show case studies, host long-form writing (Field Notes, The Stack), provide an AI Readiness diagnostic quiz, and accept contact-form messages from people interested in working together. Nothing on this site is a binding offer of services; engagements happen via separate written agreement.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the site in any way that violates applicable law.
• Submit the contact form with false or impersonated identity information.
• Scrape, mirror, or systematically download the site beyond ordinary reading.
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the site or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system.
• Submit material that infringes anyone’s intellectual property, contains malware, or is intended to harass.

Intellectual property

The writing on this site (Field Notes posts, The Stack entries, services descriptions, quiz copy) is original work by Kari Doherty. The visual design, the kariops mark, and the brand system are also mine. You’re welcome to read, share, and link to any of it. You’re welcome to quote brief passages with attribution. Republishing substantial portions, reproducing the design system, or training a model on the content without permission is not allowed.

Anything you send me through the contact form remains your information. You give me the limited right to read it, reply to it, and reference it in our subsequent conversation if we end up working together.

The quiz, and other writing

The AI Readiness Archetype quiz is a diagnostic tool. The result you receive is my opinion based on the answers you give. It’s not a binding recommendation, it’s not professional advice, and it doesn’t establish a working relationship between us. The Field Notes and The Stack writing reflects my views at the time of publication. None of it constitutes legal, financial, tax, medical, or professional advice for your specific situation.

Engagements happen separately

If we agree to work together, the engagement is governed by a separate written agreement that we both sign. Pricing on the /services page reflects standard ranges and is not an offer; the binding terms are whatever the two of us write down and sign for your specific engagement.

Disclaimers

kariops.com is provided as is. I make no warranty, express or implied, regarding the site’s availability, accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose. I don’t guarantee the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience; I’m not responsible for the content of those sites.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, kariops, Kari Doherty, and any contractors I work with will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the site, including lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or any harm caused by reliance on content published here. Direct damages are capped at one hundred US dollars ($100), which you agree is a reasonable allocation of risk for a free informational site.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kari Doherty and kariops from any claim, loss, or expense arising from your misuse of the site or violation of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts sitting in Multnomah County, Oregon, and you consent to jurisdiction there.

Changes to these terms

If I change these terms, I’ll update the “last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
